What first comes to your mind when you think of Norwegian TV?

It has been reported that the Norwegian state channel NRK will broadcast 12 hours of a burning log fire. NRK’s head of programming claims that Norwegian people have a ‘spiritual relationship’ with fire and refers to this type of programme as ‘slow and noble television’.

It’s not the first broadcast of its type has been on air. In 2011 Norwegians tuned in to watch a non-stop 134 hour cruise from Norway to the Arctic, where more than 60% of the population were watching at one point.

What do you think of this type of television? Would it work in other countries?
